If you require a TB (Tuberculosis) skin test, you are able to have it done at the Huronia Urgent Care Clinic.

A TB skin test is done in either 1 step or 2 steps. If you have never had one before, you will likely be required to do a two step, but clarify with the facility that is requesting you to have it.

Each step includes an injection of serum between the layers of skin on your forearm. You then will wait 48-72 hours after injection, then return to the clinic to have a reading done. Returning before 48 hours or after 72 hours will not produce an accurate reading. A reading is when the physician looks at the site of injection to see if there has been a reaction from the serum.

If you do need the 2 step test, then 1-3 weeks after the first step, you return and repeat the process. Please do not return before 1 week or after 3 weeks for your second step. Returning after 3 weeks will void your first step and you will need to start the process all over again.

Registration for a TB test is the same as registering for any other reason. You can either use the online registration at 6:00 am on the day you would like to come in, or walk-in after we open and take the next available walk-in slot.

PLEASE NOTE: WE ARE UNABLE TO DO TB TESTS ON THURSDAY AFTERNOONS, AS WELL AS 48-72 HOURS PRIOR TO A HOLIDAY AS WE WILL NOT BE OPEN TO DO YOUR READING.
